I thought that I was wrong once, but I was merely mistaken.

OK, so here's my theory;

Most of us retain our beliefs, even when confronted with new facts, not out of stubbornness or ignorance, but out of pride. We don't want to admit when we've been wrong, regardless of the facts or truth.

Granted, this is not a very brilliant insight into the human condition, but there is a very important distinction here between being wrong and remaining in a state of denial. I feel pity for those who are just wrong, including myself. I try to feel relief when I'm confronted with facts, but find that my first reaction is embarrassment for not knowing something. I feel contempt for those, including myself, who willfully disregard truth and continue to act as if they were still ignorant of those facts.

So, you think that you're entitled to your opinion? That's nice...

It's 2009 and here I am, finally starting a blog.

"So what?" you say. "There are plenty of stupid blogs out there. What makes yours different?"

My reply, "Nothing. Not one thing makes mine different."

Except, I don't believe that everything I believe is accurate, factual, or relevent and I'm giving you, the reader, a chance to change my mind.

Here's a brief synopsis of things that I believe (not an exhaustive list), in order of importance to me. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

• I believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ and the fulfillment of all Old Testament prophecy regarding the Law and the Messiah.
• I believe that Jesus is a fine, westernized name for the Hebrew name of above said man/God.
• I believe that Jesus Christ is the Word and Son of God and Man, and in believing that, he is the only way to the Father.
• I believe in the Trinity (I'm not sure what it is, but I believe in it).
• I believe in the fundamental truth and inerrancy of the canon, the book that we call the Bible.
• I believe that I have, by God's grace, the most wonderful wife and children and that I am a living example of God working all things for good for the believer.
• I believe that potty humor is funny.
• I believe that Folger's coffee is some of the best for drinking every day.
• I believe that people need to lighten up and accept the fact that we may be offended and inconvenienced by the world around us when it doesn't jibe with our beliefs and opinions.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Or at least try. Let's at least discuss it.
